Our Services

This section will show you what clinics we provide, with a description of what they are about. If you are interested in any please call or ask at our reception desk for more information.

24 Hour Emergency Service

We offer our own 24-hour emergency service in partnership with The Lodge Veterinary Group. Both practices offer a very high quality and cost effective emergency service. We are able to access clinical records as required and continue to nurse and treat in-patients at the practice they were brought into. This ensures the best possible case continuity.

The 24 hour emergency number remains 0121 350 2303 at all times.

Ultrasound Pregnancy Checks

We can perform ultrasound pregnancy checks on dogs or cats on our digital ultrasound scanner from about 3 and a half weeks of pregnancy onwards. If you would like one of our vets to confirm a pregnancy or to check the development of the foetuses please call the surgery for an appointment.

Behavioural Clinics

We run special behavioural clinics and have qualified staff able to help. Please call the surgery for an appointment.

Pets Passports

The practice has five vets with local veterinary inspector training to allow us to export pets on the PETS travel scheme. If you are interested on taking your pet abroad please phone us for details of the scheme.

Flea Control

We stock a broad range of flea control products for all pets and can advise or demonstrate their use to clients who are unsure as to which product is the most appropriate.

Other Services

We also perform geriatric blood profiles in the in-house laboratory to identify common age related diseases before they become serious. Dogs and cats commonly hide signs of disease until it is advanced and this then limits our options for treatment. Any animal over the age of 10 years is a candidate for our `well - pet` health check and blood test. Please call the surgery for an appointment.

Dental Service

Dental disease is one of the most common and unpleasant ailments seen in older domestic pets. Dental problems are present in 80% of dogs and cats over the age of 5 years, so if you are concerned about your pets bad breath or possible oral pain come down to the surgery for an examination. We have a dedicated dental machine that allows us to ultrasonically descale and polish teeth as well as giving us the facility to perform more serious dental surgery if required. Our staff are happy to give advice over the telephone if you have any questions.

Euthanasia Counselling

We feel this is one of the most important services provided to our clients and consequently spend time and effort to ensure that what can be a very traumatic event, is handled with dignity and care. We will happily attend your pet at home if possible and we will also arrange any cremation details for you (including individual cremations if requested). Our vets are here to advise you on euthanasia and will never force you to make a decision that you are not completely happy with. Please call for information.

Weight Clinics

We run special weight clinics and compile diet plans and have qualified staff able to help. Please call the surgery for an appointment.

Microchip Identification

We try and encourage microchip identification of all animals to prevent loss and theft of loved pets. The chip is inserted under the skin by qualified vets (unlike pet-shops) to ensure accurate and pain free placement.

Insurance

The advance in veterinary medicine means we are now able to provide a very high level of treatment to many sick and injured patients. However the effect of this is that some fees can be large or ongoing and for this reason we recommend owners take our veterinary insurance policies. This allows us to carry out the best treatments available without you worrying about the cost.

There are many good policies available and we can give you advice and information about choosing policies (although we are not allowed to recommend one company over another.) In most cases you are better shopping around to choose a policy that suits your needs.

For more information please follow the link below. You will find details of most of the policies currently available from all the major companies. Please phone the surgery if you have any general questions about the pros and cons of pet insurance.
