Introducing Our Practice Team 

Pype Hayes Veterinary Centre is proud to employ staff that are not only professional and dedicated but are also compassionate and helpful animal lovers.

We have two business directors (Stephen Pegg and Louise Coates) and three assistant vets (Charlotte Marshall, Chris Gibbs and Rebecca Moore) as well as regular part time vets that work at weekends and as an occasional locums. Our veterinary surgeons are all experienced dedicated professionals and have all been trained at British universities. All are registered with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. It is practice policy for all the vets to keep up to date with regular continued professional development - ensuring the best and most modern treatments and protocols are followed. The Head Nurse at Pype Hayes Veterinary Centre is Lisa Cierniak. Qualifying as a veterinary nurse involves training while still in full time employment and takes a lot of hard work and dedication. We currently employ six nurses as well as a two nursing assistants who help the nursing team with their duties. Our nurses are all qualified and registered RVN`s and are happy to advise our clients on all aspects of pet care.

Our Support Staff are the backbone of the practice supplying the structure that enables the vets to provide care for your pets.

Stephen graduated from Edinburgh in 1992 and joined the practice, where he is a partner, in 1998. After qualifying, I spent six years in a variety of mixed practices in the north of England before settling in the Midlands. I have spent a lot of time performing orthopaedic and soft tissue surgery and we now have the facilities to perform nearly all procedures on site. We have ensured the practice remains at the forefront of veterinary science by using the best anaesthetics, equipment and staff.

Louise joined the practice in the year 2000 after graduating from Bristol university in 1999. Originally she started as an assistant vet but in 2006 after Chris Cook retired Louise became one of the practice partners.

Charlotte is a Veterinary Assistant who joined the practice team in 1997 after graduating from Liverpool the same year. Her particular interests are Feline Medicine and ultrasound imaging. She will generally perform the more detailed heart examinations on our scanner.

Chris joined our practice in 2016 having actually seen practice here with Brian Kirby and Chris Cook while still a student in the mid 1980`s. He graduated from Cambridge University in 1989 and after 8 years in rural mixed practice in Lincolnshire moved on to spend many years working for the PDSA in Birmingham. Chris`s veterinary interests include soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery and outside of work he is a keen ice skater and photographer. He currently owns 3 cats and a dog.

Becky joined our practice in 2016 having qualified from Bristol University in 2015. She is interested in medicine and diagnostic imaging and owns a cat called Rue.

Shannon joined the veterinary team in 2021 having qualified from the RVC in London in 2019. She has an interest in anything surgical.!

Julie joined Pype Hayes Veterinary Centre in August 2012 but has worked in several practices in the midlands over many years. Julie is interested in counselling and likes to help clients struggling to come to terms with a pets illness or death. If you would like to speak to Julie please phone the practice. In 2021 Julie was promoted to head VN and with Leannes help organises the nursing team.

Leanne joined in February 2011. She has 12 years Nursing experience and qualified as RVN 4 years ago. In 2021 Leanne became deputy head VN assisting Julie with the organisation of the nursing team

Stephanie joined the practice full time in 2009 but had worked here for several years as a part time helper prior to this. She now works as an associate veterinary nurse performing most of the duties of the qualified nurses but under supervision. She is experienced at holding nurse clinics and runs our puppy party classes.

Julie joined the practice in 2002 and as well as being a qualified nurse training assessor she has the responsibility for stock control and ordering (with Elaines help). Julie is also a qualified 'pet healthcare councillor' and with help from the other nurses, holds clinics advising clients on suitable diets for overweight or sick patients, geriatric health checks and dental check ups. These clinics are free and can be booked by phoning the practice.

Carol returned to veterinary nursing in December 2020 after an absence of nearly 18 years. Carol worked at Pype Hayes Vets for many years and after a period away to raise a family and work as a nursery teacher decided that she missed us after all !

Charlotte joined the nursing team at Pype Hayes in 2021 having qualified a few years ago. She is a nurse training assessor and assists with the trainee nurses.

Zoe has rejoined our team as a full time nursing assistant having worked part time for us several years ago. Her job is to assist the vets and nurses with handling the patients, running lab samples as well as occasionally helping at reception. Zoe started her vet Nurse training in September 2021 and should be fully qualified in 2023.

Beth joined the practice in 2018. She assists the vets and nurses treating patients as well as taking care of in-patients, blood sampling and general duties. Beth started her veterinary nurse training in 2019 and will qualify as a fully fledged RVN in 2021.

Katie joined the team in 2020 as a nursing assistant. She has many years on animal experience and helps with general duties including holding patients, running samples in the lab and occasionally working at the reception desk.

Danielle joined Pype Hayes vets in 2021 and is a nursing assistant. She helps the nursing team with in-patients / dispensing and laboratory tasks as well and generally helping with holding patients or on the reception desk.

Practice Manager

Julie joined the practice in 2019 after Sue retired. She is the Practice Manager and deals with the accounts and general practice administration.

Tracey joined the practice in 2017 and deals primarily with the practice accounts. However she also assists Julie, the practice manager, with the day to day running of the office and other administration duties.

Nadine joined the practice in December 2020 as a receptionist. She works part time assisting the rest of the reception team.

Jen joined our practice in 2018 and works part time with our reception team on our very busy reception. Jen is currently in training to run the London marathon.
